Just a reminder to those businesses in the transportation industry -The Form 2290, Heavy Highway Use Tax, is due by September 2, 2014 (usually the deadline is August 31^st, but this year due to the holiday it has been extended to the first business day in September) if your vehicle was in service as of July 1^st.

The Form 2290 is used to calculate and pay the highway tax used during the period for those vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 55,000 or more.The Form 2290 is due each year with payment.

The Internal Revenue Service has a website dedicated to updates called the Trucking Tax Center.For Federal compliance with the Internal Revenue Service this website offers information related to current filing deadlines, trucking industry publications and frequently asked questions.
